PALS Training: (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

  • The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course is designed to teach providers the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and care for the pediatric population during emergencies. PALS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, airway management and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. Because the PALS course covers extensive material in a short time, you do need to prepare for the course beforehand. The PALS course does not teach ECG rhythm recognition or pharmacology and completion of the AHA PALS pretest is mandatory.
  • Initial courses available for first time learners; Renewal courses available for students renewing their certification.
  • A two year AHA completion card is issued upon successful completion.

PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Initial

PALS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Provider’s skills; emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR and advanced life support skills.

Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.
